Vinod Kapasi, leader of Mahavir Foundation in the UK, and author of many books on Jainism, together with Chandrakant Mehta from the USA participated in a series of talks held by the Institute of Jainology in India. Both explained the increasing awareness of Jainism in both countries, from academic study of scriptures, teaching of Jainism in main stream education, as well as Pathahalas, to the increasing prominence of Jains in all areas of life, including politics.
Dr Kumarpal Desai acknowledged the role played by those Jains that have travelled to other countries and propagated the Jain philosophy. On this occasion, Dr. Kumarpal Desai and Samveg Lalbhai felicitated the Jain Gaurav Award to both the Jain Scholars.
Samveg Lalbhai, the President of the felicitation explained the necessity to address the shocking condition of numerous manuscripts in stored in Gyanbhandar (Libraries) through the use of modern technology.
With reference to the presentation made at the Vatican by the Institute of Jainology (UK), Samveg Lalbhai praised the accomplishments and activity of the Institute.
