Gareth Thomas MP, Chari Jain All Party Parliamentary Group, writes to the Office of National Statistics demanding a Jain box in the religion section of the 2021 Census to stop the massive under-reporting of the Jain community and its consequences in policy and funding decisions. Here is a link to the letter to the Office of National Statistics.
I fear that the failure simply to offer a “Jain” box in the religion question on the 2021 census form will once again lead to significant under-representation of the true number of #Jains in our country. pic.twitter.com/sFOT9znXtq

The Institute of Jainology is delighted that the Hon Gareth Thomas MP, the Chair of the Jain All-Party Parliamentary Group, for which it acts as Secretariat, secured a historic first Jain debate in the House of Commons on the Jain contribution to the UK. We are grateful to the Hon Rishi Sunak MP, Minister for Housing for his contribution on behalf of the Government.
