Jains mourn the passing of his Holiness Pope Francis

Pope Francis

Monday 21st April 2025

It is with great sadness that we learned this morning of the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis. The Jain faith has maintained strong relations with the Catholic Church, going back over 30 years.

His Holiness’ Ministry will be marked by his deep care for the environment, and those most disadvantaged in society. These are issues on which both faiths were in agreement.

It was in November 2024 that the last international Jain delegation visited the Vatican for dialogue on embracing diversity and inclusivity, and caring for the earth, the poor and the most vulnerable.

His Holiness lived with deep devotion and compassion. His tireless efforts brought hope to the lives of the vulnerable and underprivileged. His leaves a strong legacy that will continue to be strengthened by those that follow.

We remember him in our prayers today and pray that his soul finds eternal peace.
