The Board of Trustees of the Institute of Jainology is deeply saddened to announce the untimely demise of its long-serving Treasurer & Secretary, Mr Kantibhai D Shah, who passed away on August 26th, after a brief illness.
A gentle soul, Kantibhai played an active role in the Institute’s work, whilst also managing its finances and administration work. He was widely known and popular within the Jain community. The Trustees offer their sincere condolences and prayers to Kantibhai’s family.
In order to fulfil his parent’s desire for higher education for him, he took a job with Lonhro Group as a junior clerk and studied to be qualified as a Certified Accountant. Through his hard work, perseverance and diligence, after 45 years service, he became this major international Group’s tax consultant – a grand achievement!.
Socially, he was always ready to serve the community. He was a Trustee for Oshwal Community’s North Area and worked in the Central Executive Committee. He was invited to be a Trustee and Director of the Institute of Jainology in the year 2003 and he was our Treasurer and Secretary when he was admitted to hospital. He carried out his responsibilities with the utmost care and diligence and earned admiration from all his colleagues.
Kantibhai leaves behind his beloved wife Smt Lalitaben, his son Panash and daughter Jagruti and four grandchildren. Our prayers are with them.
